Arden Motorsport look to end GB3 Championship on a high note at Donington Park

Red Arrows set to conclude campaign in UK's premier motorsport series in the East Midlands.

Arden Motorsport return to Donington Park, Leicestershire this weekend (15-17 October) aiming to bring the curtain down on their maiden season in the GB3 Championship with another bout of silverware.

Having only joined the UK’s premier tier of single seater competition this year, the ‘Red Arrows’ have been something of a revelation, including three race victories, seven further podiums and a consistent run of points-scoring form from rising stars Roman Bilinski, Frederick Lubin and early-season front-runner Alex Connor.

The Banbury-based team sit a commendable fourth against far more experienced opposition heading into the season finale, which takes place around the 2.4-mile Grand Prix configuration of the East Midlands venue.

The team enters the season-ending triple header with plenty left to play for; a top-three spot in the Teams Championship remains up for grabs, with Bilinski and Lubin both in a position to further scale the championship standings this time out.

After pre-event testing on Thursday and Friday, the pair’s first competitive action will come in the form of qualifying at 10:50 on Saturday morning, with the first of three races to follow that afternoon at 15:10.

Sunday features two further live-streamed races across GB3’s YouTube channel and social media platforms, with lights out scheduled for 10:10 and 16:00 respectively.

Gary Ward, Arden GB3 Team Manager said:

“I think, really, we have to count our debut season in the GB3 Championship as a qualified success, so there’s no pressure on the team heading to Donington Park this weekend.

“Some of the competition have been running these cars in one guise or another for the better part of a decade, so to have come in and scored the results we have is all the satisfaction we need.

“Of course, we’d like to tie things off this weekend with some more silverware, and that’ll be the focus, but more importantly, it’s a great opportunity to celebrate how far both we and these drivers have come in a short space of time.

“Everybody’s feeling motivated and ready to go out there and perform – and recently history says the results tend to follow.”

Roman Bilinski (#4) said:

“It doesn’t seem that long ago I was getting into the car at Donington Park to make my GB3 debut, so to be heading back there for the season finale already is slightly surreal, but a lot has changed since then.

“The switch to GB3, and back to Arden, has proven to be the right one; we’ve had some fantastic highs with victories at Spa, Snetterton and Oulton Park, and plenty of learning experiences too.

“I’ve had a great time, and hopefully this weekend we can go out on a high note and end the season with something to shout about.”

Frederick Lubin (#78) said:

“It’s definitely been a rollercoaster of a season, but I’m looking forward to ending on a high note at Donington Park this weekend.

“It’s a circuit I’ve enjoyed driving at in the past, although I was forced to miss the visit here earlier this season. Luckily, we have plenty of testing and I have a lot of faith in the hard work me and the team have been putting in beforehand, so that shouldn’t be an issue.

“Of course, having taken my first podium last time out, the logical progression now is to keep building and try and ‘upgrade’ that to a maiden win. I know the team will give me a car capable of fighting up front; if everything goes our way, it should be another solid weekend.”
