Red Bull Junior Ticktum joins Arden Formula Renault 2.0 Team

Daniel Ticktum becomes the first confirmed Formula Renault Eurocup driver

Daniel Ticktum will race in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 championship in 2017 with the Arden International squad and as part of the Red Bull Junior Team programme.

The British racer was forced to sit out the majority of 2016 due to a ban for a incident during a 2015 round of the MSA Formula series at Silverstone, but made his race return in the final round of the FIA European Formula 3 Championship with Carlin before contesting the Macau Grand Prix with Double R Racing. He also took part in the Autumn Trophy of the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship at Snetterton.

Ticktum is the first driver to be confirmed to race for Arden’s Eurocup squad but is the third Red Bull-backed driver in the championship, with Dutch teenager Richard Verschoor and American teenager Neil Verhagen both racing for MP Motorsport.

It is the second time Red Bull have been involved in Ticktum’s career but it is the first time he will be a part of the actual Junior Team having been part of its athlete scheme in his time in MSA Formula, and the Briton is aiming to win the title at the first time of asking.

Daniel Ticktum “Some people will know the mistakes I’ve made. I have changed my attitude massively and I cannot wait to prove that to everyone.
“[The aim is] to win the European Formula Renault 2.0 championship.”

Ticktum's Arden Motorpsort Formula Renault 2.0 teammates are due to be confirmed soon in a further announcement.

The 2017 Formula Renault Eurocup season begins on the 22-23 May at Monza, Italy.
