Arden Motorsport are all set for a positive start to their 2020 F4 British Championship campaign next weekend [01-02 August] at Donington Park.
Alex Connor is looking to carry on from where he left off last year, hoping to build on a successful debut season with the squad.
The Rookie Cup vice-champion placed ninth overall in the standings in 2019, and capped off the season in fine fashion with a double pole position and maiden podium finish at the iconic Brands Hatch circuit.
Bolstered by a strong off-season, which saw him score his first F4 victory on the support bill of the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the 16-year-old will be eyeing overall success in his sophomore season.
Roman Bilinski graduates into the Ford-powered series from Ginetta Juniors, where he secured an overall podium finish and five top-ten finishes in the highly-competitive
championship in 2019.
Bilinski, who was awarded the Nigel Mansell award for the ‘Most Promising Driver’ during his successful stint in karting, will be looking to translate his wheel-to-wheel experience into solid results this season.
Frederick Lubin has his sights set on Rookie Cup spoils in 2020 as he steps up to single-seater level motorsport following success in karting.
The YRDA-backed racer has gelled superbly with his team-mates over the off-season, building an off-track relationship he believes will pay dividends on track.
Competitive action at Donington Park gets underway with qualifying at 10:30 on Saturday, followed by the season-opening contest at 14:45.
Sunday features a double-header with races two and three at 09:40 and 15:20 respectively, with all the action live on ITV4’s free-to-air television coverage.
Arden British F4 Team Manager, Gary Ward:
“All of us at Arden Motorsport are just excited to get going, it’s been great having the drivers back out on track for testing but we can’t wait to go racing for real now.
“We’ve got a really promising line-up this year, it’s fantastic to be working with Alex again after a successful season last year and I’m sure he’ll be putting that experience to good use.
“Likewise, Roman and Frederick are really exciting prospects so it’ll be great to see how they get on. We can’t wait to kick off the season with some silverware!”
Alex Connor (#27) said:
“I’m really looking forward to the first round at Donington. It was my first race in the 2019 season and I really enjoyed racing on this track so I’m looking to come away with some good results.
“The lockdown period has allowed me to focus on my physical training which has helped me to handle the car better.”
Roman Bilinski (#55) said:
“British F4 has always been the plan and to be with Arden is perfect. My engineer and I have been doing a lot of work in lockdown to try and cover many eventualities.
“I’m hoping I can put the experience and racecraft I learnt from Ginetta Juniors to good use this year.
“As drivers we really get along well which is a great position to be in, and hopefully means we’ll all have some strong results collectively this year.
“Donington is one of my favourite tracks so let’s hope I love it even more next Sunday!”
Frederick Lubin (#78) said:
“I’m really excited to go to Donington. It’s been an extremely long wait so obviously to get going again is extremely lucky.
“British F4 and the BTCC have done a fantastic job putting together a calendar and I can’t wait to see how it goes when we get to qualifying.”
