Arden Motorsport is delighted to confirm Alex Quinn will return to the team for a full assault on the Formula Regional Championship by Alpine in 2021.
The announcement marks the next stage of Quinn’s long-standing partnership with the Banbury-based team and comes off the back of a superb run to the Formula Renault Eurocup Rookie title last season.
Quinn’s first involvement with the Red Arrows was his second full-season campaign in British Formula 4, and the Cornwall-based racer duly delivered four victories and a further seven podiums.
A lack of budget had halted Quinn’s rise through the single seater ranks thereafter until, having only contested a handful of sportscar races in the intervening period, he was recalled by Arden to stand in for Sebastian Fernandez in Europe’s top single-seater series in 2019.
Quinn made an immediate impact, delivering a brace of podiums and plenty of eye-catching performances across the three events at Nurburgring, Hungaroring and Barcelona.
The 20-year-old delivered once again last season, with highlights including pole position at the season-opener at Monza, leading home a superb 1-2 finish for the team at Spa and podium finishes at Imola and Hockenheim as Quinn re-established himself amongst the next generation of rising stars.
Now, in 2021, he will enter the season with a full programme to compete in the 10-event, 20-race Formula Regional European Championship, the first since the series merged with the now defunct Eurocup.
Based around the same Tatuus chassis and now powered by an Alpine (formerly Renault) engine, it gives Quinn the perfect platform to build on last season’s successes and continue his superb ‘comeback’ story.
The 2021 season – which includes F1 ® support race slots in Spain and Monaco – begins at Spa on the 24-25 April.
