Following a mixed Qualifying session on Friday where the Arden trio lined up eighth (Dennis), thirteenth (Calderon) and fifteen (Aitken) for race one, the beneficiary was Jack, who started fifteenth and rocketed to tenth. He battled with Sandy Stuvik (Trident) and team-mate Tatiana to take ninth place and kick start his 2016 points tally. Tatiana had a good start making up two places, nipping in front of team-mate Jack for some early laps until a flat spotted tyre dropped the Colombian racer back on lap 13. She was then sandwiched with four laps to go, between two Dams drivers Kevin Joerg and Santino Ferrucci, to damage the car steering -limping home seventeenth. Jake had a very short-lived race as Ferrucci struck the side of Jake’s Dallara machine on the opening lap at turn 1, forcing the Brit to a stop just three laps in.
The rain finally made its appearance for race two as it lashed down, the race was started under the safety car. Despite the good starts from both Tatiana and Jake for race two, their hard work was marginalized as Charles Leclerc (ART) skittled them both off on lap 14, removing rear ends from both Arden cars. Jack remained on track in the difficult weather conditions and in spite of only having two green flag laps, crossed the line in fifth claiming a further six points for his second race weekend in GP3 Series.
Jake: “It wasn’t the weekend that we wanted. I was very unlucky from the start in Race one, being taken out straight away. Race two I was doing well in the laps that I did, but again I was taken out. I am just looking forward to Silverstone and hoping to get some decent points there.”
Tatiana: "It was a frustrating weekend. Considering the issues we had in free practice I was pretty happy with our pace in qualifying and the start of Race one. Unfortunately, I was fighting and flat spotted my front right tyre and from there I couldn't
keep up. Then race two was difficult, as we only raced for 4 laps and I then got hit from behind at Turn 2. Taking the positives our pace has been strong, we solved the issues we had in Barcelona and now we have another chance next weekend at Silverstone! “
