A win in the pits for Panis

Second victory of the season for Frenchman Panis

Panis takes his second victory of the season at the Red Bull Ring in Formula V8.

Friday’s Collective Tests showed Egor Orudzhev and Aurelien Panis had incredible pace. Between the two of them they were amongst the top 4 on the timing sheets. Collective Test 1 ended with a red flag, Orudzhev finished P2 with a 1:17.782, and Panis finished the session in P13 with a 1:19.056.

Collective Test 2, the track temperature raised by  an considerable amount, which involved a whole different track condition compared to the mornings cooler CT1 session. Panis and Orudzhev swapped 1st position throughout the session, and as the session became red flagged. Panis finished in P5 with a 1:17.240, and Orudzhev finished in P7 with a 1:17.307.

Qualifying 1: The 30 minute qualifying session saw both drivers dominating the first half of the qualifying session. The session ended with Orudzhev doing a 1:16.126 putting him in 4th position for Race 1, and Panis  completed the session with  1:16.644, which placed him in 11th.

Race 1: Saturday’s Race 1 saw Orudzhev have an incredible start, up into 2nd place by Lap 1.  On Lap 7, Egor ran wide and filled his side pods with grass. This resulted in excessive water temperature, which forced Egor to pit. The team quickly cleared the problem and used the latter half of the race to collect data for Sunday's race. With Binder stopping on the main start finish straight, Panis moved up into 5th place. As the Chequered Flag was waved, Panis came across the line in 5th, and Orudzhev in 15th.

Qualifying 2: Panis dominated the first half of the qualifying session on Sunday morning. The session ended with Panis in 5th with a 1:16.099, and Orudzhev in 8th with 1:16.408.

Race 2: Panis had a great start off the line, placing himself 4th by the end of Lap 1. After his perfectly timed mandatory pit stop, he left the pit lane in P1. Orudzhev battled for 4th with Deletraz, but took the Chequered Flag in 5th. The team also took the Fastest Pitstop time.

Panis took his second win of the season, and moves up into 3rd in the Drivers Championship.
